How To Propose A Person
For Membership Into Rotary Club 13

  1. Obtain the "Membership Proposal and Application" from Rotary office. Complete the "Proposal to the Board of Directors" side of the form. It is the proposer’s responsibility to obtain an endorser from Club 13.
  2. The prospect should complete the membership application side of the form. Answer any questions he or she may have about Rotary, Club 13, etc. Submit the completed application to the Rotary office for approval by the Membership Classification & Qualification Committee. The committee meets on the first Thursday of each month to review applications.
  3. After the Membership C&Q Committee has approved the prospect, the application is submitted to the Board of Directors for approval. The board meets once each month.
  4. After the membership application is approved by the board, the proposed new member’s name is published in the following week’s Buzz Saw. Ten days after publication is allowed for any opposition.
  5. If there is no opposition at the end of the ten days, the proposed member is sent a letter from the Rotary office stating that his or her membership has been approved and requesting a black and white photo (for the roster), and a check for $295 ($250 for one-time initiation fee, and $45 for Youth Camp assessment. (NOTE: Active member annual dues are $885 which includes $390 for dues, $45 for Youth Camp contribution, and $450 prepaid meals. Members under 35 pay $767.50, which includes $272.50 for dues, $45 for the Youth Camp, and $450 for meals. The initiation fee of $250 is waived until the member's 35th birthday.)
  6. As soon as these two items are received in the Rotary office, the proposed member is sent a second letter inviting him or her to the next scheduled membership education meeting, along with a statement for prorated dues for the remainder of the year. (The prorated amount is $70.00 per month [$60.21 per month for members under 35, or $27.08 for Past Service], for the number of months remaining in the calendar year, and includes dues and prepaid lunches.)
  7. Membership education meetings are usually scheduled on the first Thursday of the month at 10:00 a.m., with new members being introduced at the luncheon following this meeting (NOTE: If the Rotary office does not receive a response within a reasonable length of time after the first letter is sent out [2 to 3 weeks], the sponsor(s) is contacted to followup with the proposed member. The same is true after the second letter has gone out.)
  8. After the new member has been formally introduced to the club at the Thursday luncheon meeting, he or she is officially a member of Club 13, with the name being entered in the master roster, badge number assigned, and notification sent to the District Governor and Rotary International.
