President's Message

Sally Bibb

President

Dear Fellow Rotarians,

As we begin this Rotary centennial year, I look forward to working with you and consider it a privilege to serve as your President.  Through the Rotary International theme, Celebrate Rotary – 100 Years of Service, we are honoring the past and planning for the future.  Rotary has a rich tradition of fellowship and service, and in this upcoming year, Club 13 will focus on fellowship.  Fellowship is the path in Rotary that leads to service.

Club 13 goals for 2004-2005 mirror those of Rotary International.  A top priority will be a focus on increased membership retention.  People often join Rotary because they are drawn to community service; however, members stay in Rotary because they have developed a close group of friends and Rotary is a part of their lives.  To increase retention, we will continue to provide meaningful and interesting programs, we will increase committee involvement, and we will increase the number of social events.

In a large club, it is nearly impossible for Rotarians to develop a close friendship with all the members; consequently, they form circles of friends with common interests.  Club 13 has a strong tradition of recreational fellowship activities including bowling and golf.  We will continue to increase the number of circles of interests and also increase the number of participants in the circles.

Fellowship in Club 13 has extended beyond the membership and into the community in the form of partnerships.  Club 13 has a growing number of community partners who work with Rotary on service projects and also support the Rotary Youth Camp.  The collaboration with partners leverages Rotary’s ability to accomplish large scale projects.  The magic of Rotary plus the linkages of community friendships make anything possible.  Rotary will continue to nurture current friendships and seek out and build new relationships.

I am honored that you have afforded me the opportunity to serve as your president and will appreciate your suggestions and participation to make this a successful year.

Best Regards,

Sally Bib
