TYROTARIANS
(A New Member Organization)
Organization
Each new member of the Rotary Club of Kansas City, Missouri, shall immediately and automatically qualify as a "Tyrotarian.'' A member will remain a Tyrotarian during the first year membership in the Rotary Club of Kansas City, Missouri.
 
Badges

At all authorized Rotary meetings, where name badges are worn, each Tyrotarian shall wear a red ribbon, 2" wide and 6" long, with the word "TYROTARIAN" printed thereon, attached to the regular Rotary Club name badge. This special identification will encourage recognition of such new member status within the Rotary Club of Kansas City, Missouri, and aid in fostering fellowship and goodwill.

 
Tyrotarian Social Committee
(A sub-committee of the Tyrotarian Committee)

Purpose

  1. Foster personal acquaintance among the newly admitted Rotary members.
  2. Encourage active participation in Rotary events.
  3. Promote friendship between Tyrotarians and members with greater Club longevity.
  4. Become more fully aware of the Club history, aims, and objectives.
  5. Understand aims/objectives of Rotary International.
 
Procedures
  1. The Chairperson of the Social Committee will be a Tyrotarian appointed by the Chairperson of the Tyrotarian Committee.
  2. Members of the sub-committee, also Tyros appointed by the Chairperson of the Tyrotarian Committee, will be on a rotating basis. As a member completes his year of service, he/she drops off the committee and is replaced by a recently inducted Tyro.
  3. The Social Committee will plan at least four (one each quarter) events to carry out the stated purpose.
  4. All Club Officers and Board Members should be invited to these events.
  5. Cocktail parties at members' places of business or homes, with a brief presentation on an appropriate orientation subject, is one way of accomplishing the stated purpose.
  6. Oversight of and support for the Tyrotarian Social Committee will be by the Club Tyrotarian Committee.
 
Tyro Orientation Program

The following procedure is to assist new Rotarians to become involved in the various relationships and activities in Club 13 within a reasonable time period.

  1. The new program will be in effect for members who join after November 1, 1998. Members who have joined prior to that date will progress to regular members under current policy.
  2. New members will continue to be known as "Tyrotarians" and will have a red ribbon affixed to their badge until completion of the following requirements:

  3. A. Participate as a Tyrotarian member for a minimum of one year.
    B. Complete activities with a total value of 100 participation points from the "Tyro Orientation Project List".

  4. New members who have belonged for one year and have achieved 100 points will be recognized at a Club meeting and will remove the red ribbon.
  5. A supply of post card size forms will be given to Tyrotarians who can either mail or hand deliver the completed forms to the Club office as verification of an activity. The Executive Director will maintain a contemporary record of accumulated points in each category and will provide the Tyrotarian a progress points in each category and will provide the Tyrotarian a progress report each month.
  6. As an additional option, a Progress Board could be maintained showing the current status of each Tyrotarian and displayed each week near the badge area on the 4th floor.
  7. Former Club 13 members who rejoin within 3 years will be exempted from the Orientation Program requirements.
  8. It is anticipated that 100 participation points will be accumulated prior to the second renewal after joining the Club. If this is not accomplished, the member could continue as a Tyrotarian until reaching the 100 point goal.
