Club 13 2008 Election

 
Matt Meyer received the call to serve as president-elect in the Club 13 elections for 2008-09. The president for the upcoming year will be Myron Sildon, who was elected president-elect a year ago.

Other election results are as follows:

Marc Horner was elected to serve as treasurer; Bob Edwardson, Rick Kappa and Dick Retrum were elected to the board of directors.

Directors Steve Corbin and Charlie Tryban will complete the second year of their terms. Evie Craig will serve one year completing Matt's term as director.

Congratulations to the new officers and directors. Club 13 thanks ALL candidates for accepting the opportunities to run for office.

Matt Meyer
 
 
      Matt is CEO of the American Red Cross of Greater Kansas City. He joined Club 13 in 1997 with the classification of Association-American Red Cross. He is currently chairman of Greeting/Meeting Arrangements, which two committee were combined in 2001. He has chaired them for seven years. He has also served on the Nominating Committee and Spirit Festival Committee.

Matt's other Rotary activities include Greater K.C. Day, World Fest, Salvation Army bell ringing and Firesides.

He is on several boards in the community, a member of the Chamber of Commerce and a volunteer for his church.

Matt is also a Paul Harris Fellow.

Marc Horner
     
      Marc joined Club 13 in 1994 with the classification of Electrical Supplies - Wholesale. He is district manager of Crescent Electric Supply Company.

Currently he is serving as a director on the Rotary Club Youth Camp Association. He served as president of the RCYC Associarion for a two-year term.

Marc has also served as chairman of the Rotary Camp Maintenance Committee for the last nine years, coordinating all the work days at the Rotary Camp.

In addition to camp duties, he has chaired the Camp Enterprise Committee and has served on the Spirit Festival and Vocational Service committees. Marc was recognized as Committee Chair of the Year in 2000-01.

Marc is a Paul Harris Fellow and a K.C. Rotary Club Foundation Fellow.

Bob Edwardson
 
  A member of Club 13 since 2003, Evie has the classification Association-reStart. She is the executive director of re-Start, Inc.

This is her third year to chair the Downtown Committee and she has served as a member on Downtown, International Service, Program, Invocation and Greeters.

Evie is also a member of the Greater KC Council on Philanthropy and the Association of Fundraising Professionals; the Mid-America Council on Planned Giving, and serves on the Jackson County Mental Health Commission. She is the chair of the Developement Committee of the Homeless Services Coalition of Greater KC and also chairs the Human Services Committee of the Downtown Council of KC.
      Bob joined Club 13 in 2003 and holds the classification of Real-Estate - Residential. Bob is a broker-sales executive with Reece and Nichols.

This is his third year as chair of Literacy Committee and he was recognized as 2006-07 Committee Chair of the Year. Bob has also served as a member of the Tryotarian, International Service and Vocational Service Committees.

Bob has also been involved with Habitat for Humanity as the Home Construction Project Chair and as a medical aid volunteer in Haiti. He has also served as a tutor for Literacy KC, student mentor at DeLaSalle School and teacher with Junior Achievement.

Bob is a Paul Harris Fellow and a K.C. Rotary Club Foundation Fellow.

  Dick is president of ROR Enterprises, Inc.and joined Rotary in 2004.

This is his third year to chair the Entertainment Committee and he has also served as a member on the Program and Nominating Committees.

Currently, he is president of Club 13’s Bowling League and has served as its secretary in 2006-07.

Dick was recognized as the Tyrotarian of the Year in 2004-05. He has also been a corner captain for Gr. K.C. Day for the past two years. He spent two weeks in the Ukraine on Club 13’s humanitarian project.

Currently, he is assisting District Governor Sally Bibb as District Conference Co-chair, making arrangements for the district conference which will be held at the Hyatt Hotel in April of 2008.

Both Dick and his spouse, Carol, are Paul Harris Fellows as well as K.C. Rotary Club Foundation Fellows.
      Rick has been a member of Club 13 since 1992. He holds the classification of Management - Information Storage. Rick is president of ABC Business Records, Inc./ABC Fireproof Warehouse.

He has served on the following committees: Downtown, Ecology, Spirit Festival, Tyrotarian, Greater K.C. Day, Entertainment, Mentoring.

He also chaired the Public Relations Committee in 1999-2000 and 2000-2001.

Rick was instrumental in coordinating the club’s centennial project which was the placement of a telescope in Case Park.

Rick is a Paul Harris Fellow.
